Ortho Orthene Ant Killer Bait Stations - 12 Pack

Detailed Review

Ortho Orthene Ant Killer Bait Stations represent a smart approach to indoor ant control by targeting colony elimination rather than individual ants. The slow-acting formula works strategically: foraging worker ants discover the bait, consume it, and transport it back to the nest where it reaches the queen and the rest of the colony. This method addresses the root cause of ant infestations, making it significantly more effective than spray treatments that only kill visible ants.

The practical design of these bait stations makes application straightforward for any homeowner. Simply break apart the pre-filled stations and position them along ant trails, baseboards, kitchen cabinets, and other areas where ant activity occurs. Ants begin feeding within 30 minutes, and most users observe noticeable reductions in ant activity within 3-7 days. The package includes 12 stations, which allows for comprehensive coverage throughout a typical home when deployed simultaneously as recommended.

For optimal results, pair the bait stations with basic sanitation measures like removing accessible food sources and crumbs. Avoid placing stations in areas recently treated with sprays or other pesticides, as ants may avoid contaminated zones. Replace stations once the bait is mostly consumed or every three months to maintain ongoing protection. This product works best against common household species like pharaoh ants, Argentine ants, pavement ants, and odorous house ants, though it is not formulated for fire ants, carpenter ants, or harvester ants.
