What Happened

Nissan has officially announced pricing and detailed specifications for the 2027 Rogue Hybrid, marking the United States debut of the automaker’s e-Power series-hybrid powertrain in a compact SUV. The vehicle will begin arriving at dealerships this fall, with the entry-level SV trim starting at $37,065. The SR trim with the Technology package, which launches first, carries a base price of $43,065.

The e-Power system represents a different approach to hybrid technology compared to traditional parallel hybrids. Rather than using a gas engine to directly power the wheels, Nissan’s setup relies exclusively on dual electric motors, one on each axle, to drive the vehicle. The turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine functions solely as a generator, recharging the battery when needed. When the battery maintains sufficient charge, the gas engine shuts down completely. This configuration delivers 225 horsepower to all four wheels and achieves preliminary fuel-economy estimates of 40 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 38 mpg combined.

Key Features and Technology

The 2027 Rogue Hybrid introduces several new technologies tailored for North American drivers. The e-Pedal regenerative braking system enables one-pedal driving, a feature typically found on fully electric vehicles, allowing drivers to slow or stop by simply lifting off the accelerator. A new Smooth Stop feature automatically adjusts brake pressure to minimize jarring stops and head-jerk motions.

Inside, the cabin features a completely redesigned dashboard layout with fresh materials throughout. Base models include a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. SR and Platinum trims upgrade to a 14.3-inch display running a Google-based operating system that integrates Google Maps, Gemini AI, and access to the Play Store. The Platinum model adds an exclusive 10-speaker Bose premium audio system. All variants come equipped with Nissan’s new 15-watt Qi2 magnetic wireless charger, with the Platinum offering dual charging pads for passenger convenience.

Driver-assistance technology also receives significant updates. The redesigned ProPilot Assist system includes a new front radar sensor and an upgraded front camera with expanded field of view. Nissan claims the system now better maintains lane centering and handles curves at higher speeds. Additional features include automatic lane-changing capability and Hands-off Traffic Jam Support, which permits drivers to temporarily remove their hands from the wheel during low-speed traffic conditions on divided highways when ProPilot Assist is engaged.

Design and Interior Space

The new Rogue Hybrid adopts a bold exterior design characterized by sharply creased sheet metal, an intricate grille with illuminated accent elements around the headlights, and an available full-width taillight. Rear doors open to nearly 90 degrees, facilitating easier entry and exit for passengers and children. The compact SUV accommodates five LATCH anchors in the rear seat, enabling a center-positioned car seat to coexist with two additional seats, offering greater flexibility for families.

Nissan claims the Rogue Hybrid delivers 40.9 inches of front-seat headroom, exceeding what competitors offer in the hybrid compact SUV category. Cargo capacity measures 31 cubic feet with the second row upright, expanding to 66 cubic feet when seats fold flat. The SUV can tow up to 1,500 pounds, making it suitable for light hauling tasks.

The complete 2027 Rogue Hybrid lineup includes four trims. The entry-level SV starts at $37,065, with a Premium package adding $3,100. The SR trim begins at $39,065, and the top Platinum model carries a $45,065 base price. Initially, only the SR with the Technology package will launch this fall at $43,065. Additional trims and configurations will roll out in early 2027.

This pricing positions the Rogue Hybrid competitively against established rivals in the segment. When it launches, the new Nissan will face direct competition from the growing SUV category that’s seeing new entries from premium brands, as well as mainstream alternatives like the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Honda CR-V Hybrid, and Hyundai Tucson Hybrid.

What It Means for Shoppers

The arrival of the Rogue Hybrid gives American SUV buyers a fresh hybrid option with technology borrowed from international markets. The series-hybrid powertrain offers a distinct driving experience compared to conventional hybrids, potentially appealing to drivers who value smooth acceleration and one-pedal driving capability. Starting at under $37,100 for a base model, the Rogue Hybrid provides hybrid efficiency without the premium pricing of traditional hybrids or the charging requirements of full electric SUVs.

For families prioritizing space, technology, and safety features, the SUV market continues expanding with diverse powertrain options and capabilities. The Rogue Hybrid’s emphasis on interior room, child-seat accommodation, and advanced driver assistance systems positions it as a practical choice for households seeking a modern compact SUV with genuine hybrid efficiency and contemporary technology integration.
